Compare album and QC photos only after checking that the item code, color, size, source and visible construction details align.
QC photos can reveal differences or missing information, but they do not authenticate a product, seller or transaction.
Album photos vs QC photos
Album photos are usually selected for presentation and may show ideal angles or repeated promotional images. QC photos are typically item-specific inspection images from a separate workflow. Each answers different questions; neither should be assumed to show every detail.
What I expect inspection photos to answer
I use item-specific photos to check the variation, visible condition, measurements and details that the album did not show clearly. I do not ask the images to prove origin or trust. If a necessary angle is missing, I write down the missing angle instead of treating the rest of the set as a pass.
How to check that photos belong to the same item
- Compare item code, category, color and stated size.
- Check panel layout, seams, hardware, print position or port arrangement.
- Match the source URL and variant where possible.
- Notice whether watermarks, backgrounds or timestamps indicate different contexts.
- Label an uncertain match as uncertain.
Category-specific details to compare
For shoes, compare profile, toe shape, panels, sole and size label. For clothing, compare fabric, stitching, print placement and dimensions. For bags, compare seams, hardware, lining and strap attachment. For electronics, compare exact model, ports, controls and included parts.
Keep the chart and measured item separate
A size chart may describe a product family rather than the exact item in the inspection photos. Use the measurement comparison to keep label size, seller chart, measured dimensions and fit preference in separate columns. A ruler in a photo can add evidence, but perspective and placement can affect the reading.
Image quality and missing-angle limitations
Compression, lighting, white balance and camera distance can change appearance. A missing angle is not a pass; it is a missing answer. Request clarification through the responsible third party if you intend to continue.
Why QC photos do not authenticate a product or seller
QC images show visible characteristics at a particular moment. They do not establish origin, materials beyond what can be seen, seller identity, future shipment contents or transaction protection.
Checklist before approving any next step
- The images plausibly show the same item and variant.
- The necessary angles and measurements are visible.
- Differences are recorded rather than explained away.
- The source link and item code still align.
- The next responsible party and its policies are understood.
